On July 24-25, 2010, I went to my fifth MotoGP race at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California since 2006. I’ve had the opportunity to see my favorite racer, Valentino Rossi #46, a.k.a. “The Doctor,” race before. Once again this year, I got a pit pass and was able to see him “up-close and personal.” However, this time was so completely different.
This time, there was doubt that Rossi would be racing at Laguna because he had broken his leg during the practices at Mugello on June 06, 2010 and the experts were saying he would not be back until August or September. I was so upset because I had bought a weekend pass just to see Rossi race. I even thought about selling my tickets. Rossi surprised everyone by returning on July 18, 2010 at Sachsenring. So now, I was happy!
I saw Rossi walk to his bike on crutches. For the first time ever, I finally got his autograph and got my picture taken on his bike. Woo!!!!! He practiced and raced, getting to and leaving his garage on crutches. That was a trip. He managed to finish in third place and walked up to the podium on crutches. I really had a great time.
Here are some of the pictures I took:
